Write Letters to the Editor

Writing a letter to the editor is a good way to get the word out. Note that you have a good shot at getting a letter published in your local paper. If the paper is impressed with the quality of your writing, they may even publish your piece as an editorial. It will be harder to get published in the Globe, but don't let that stop you from trying. It's a good idea to find out beforehand what is recommended in terms of content and total number of words. If the information is not available on the website, call the newspaper, and they'll be glad to tell you. You don't want to spend a lot of time writing a convincing "novel" only to have it rejected for wordiness. Note also that some papers will not be interested in printing your letter or editorial if it has already been published or even submitted elsewhere.
