3 Great Mountain Destinations

Wengen, Switzerland

Wengen is a charming resort village that lies at the foot of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau range of mountains. One of the great things about this town is that you can only get there by cable/train car. Other than some electric carts that are operated by local administration, the town is "foot only." In the summer there is an abundance of hiking, along with simply relaxing in sight of the incredible views of the local area.

In the winter you will be in a wonderland, with cross country skiing, tobogganing and of course downhill skiing. The area is rich with quaint Swiss hotels where you will be sure to enjoy local favorites such as fondue and raclette.

Lake Louise, Alberta

In the pristine Rocky Mountains of Canada is the well known winter resort of Lake Louise. This area has over 4200 skiable acres and endless cross country skiing. The famous Chateau Lake Louise has everything to pamper you after your day of skiing or your summer day of hiking. Want to see a grizzly bear? This is one of the best locations anywhere to see this large animal in the wild, along with other mammals such as elk, bighorn sheep and lynx.

Sapporo, Japan

Made famous for hosting the 1972 Winter Olympics, Sapporo continues to offer the mountain resort traveler much, both in winter and summer. Take the Hokutosei train from Tokyo for a lands-eye scenic route and enjoy the winter festivals such as the February Sapporo Snow Festival. For your skiing fix, try the Kokusai Ski area, one of the area"s largest, or the Teine Highland.

In the summer there are river runs, para sailing and of course you could visit the Sapporo Beer Museum. The Japanese have built a solid tourism infrastructure so you will have no problems finding a hotel or an affordable ramen noodle parlour.

While many think about the ocean and beaches for holiday package, don"t forget to take a look at the many alpine and mountain resorts for your next trip. They may just provide you with a balance of vigorous activity and pampered relaxation that will refresh and recharge you.

Can the Timeshare Developer Charge You a Special Assessment?

Over the years, many timeshare developers have changed the wording of their contracts to better protect their interests. Some timeshare owners are sent a bill for a special assessment, even though there is no mention of these fees in their contract. Others may have it written in their contract but in convoluted wording used to confuse the buyer at the time of signing. For example, the special assessments may be noted in the resort regulations document, and the contract will make a statement that the purchaser has read the regulations and agrees to abide by them. This is a common scam in the industry used to confuse clients. Many clients are unaware of the details outlined in the regulations document at the time of purchase, or they are verbally misrepresented to believe that there are no additional fees besides the regular maintenance fee payments.
