Samburu Simba Lodge

Buffalo Springs is accessible by road via Isiolo, about 6 hours drive from Nairobi through Nanyuki on a tarmac road to Isiolo, then a 22km murram road. Buffalo Springs remains serene, removed form the beaten path of topical tourist circuit. The area is very dry (semi-arid officially) with a lot of scrub and some acacia trees. The temperatures range from 30ÒºC during hottest months to 20ÒºC between July and September. The only reprieve is an oasis of crystal clear water - Buffalo Springs, and the Uaso Nyiro River. In fact the entire ecosystem in the area is sustained mainly by the water from Uaso Nyiro where there"s a narrow band of doum palms, riverine forests and grasslands. The high faunal concentration at the waterholes and riverbank is a gift for the wildlife watcher.

Unobstructed view of the river bank

Samburu Simba Lodge was designed such that it has unobstructed viewpoint to the activities at the river bank. You can see the river banks and the waterhole from either your room terraces, at the lodge or restaurant. Herds of elephants roaming by, troops of baboons trying to drink water but hesitant because of the crocodiles in the river.

Birds are prolific in the Acacias and Doum Palms along the river banks. Birds include Orange-bellied Parrots, Bristle-crowned Starling, Vereauxò€™s Eagle-owl, Night Heron, Palm-Nut Vulture and the Vinaceous Dove. Expect to see Gravyò€™s Zebra, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, buffalo, Waterbuck and crocodiles in the Uaso Nyiro River. Large predators such as the lion, leopard and cheetah also reside in the buffalo springs.

Spa hotels relaxes your senses

Escaping from the noisy roads, hectic schedules and willingness to provide peace to body, mind and soul are some of the reasons that enable people to plan for a holiday. In fact, these were my reasons also to fly to Jaipur. This pink city is apt to check out royalty at its best and grandeur in every corner, be it a market outside City Palace and Hawa Mahal. The moment I entered Jaipur City, I was enthralled by the rustic atmosphere. Everything was so traditional and great that I could not wait to check-in at one of the spa hotels booked by me. It was Rajvilas that gave me a spellbound view of the entire structure. This hotel was like jewel in the crown of spa hotels in India.

Bangkok, Bridge Over River Kwai and Tiger Temple Travel Advice

Bangkok is a buzzing city criss crossed with canals & rivers. The sky line is one of high rises, shopping malls & international hotel chains but at the canal banks and side streets of the city the traditional side of Thai life is clearly visible. The business hub of the city is easily navigated using the skyrail & underground but the more touristy areas around the Koh San road are less well supplied & Tuk Tuks are the main mode of transport. Negotiate hard with your tuk tuk driver - a taxi will always be cheaper & has the advantage of air conditioning however be sure to agree that you"re charged according to the metre as opposed to agreeing a fixed price. Taxis will only take you at an agreed price after 3pm as from this point on your in to rush hour and they are highly likely to spend hours with you stuck in traffic!
