Geography:]Tooro covers is UgandaтЂ™s largest western region. Tooro is an extension of the Bunyoro region and most of the regionтЂ™s large towns and population in general, are to be found here. Kasese, Bundibugyo, Kamwenge, Kagadi, Mubende and Kyenjojo towns.The River Mpanga is the major river in the region. The land is fertile and agriculture remains a major feature of the landscape and the economy. The area around Fortportal has an extension of the Tooto Bunyoro Tea fields and there are also timber on the border with Congo. The Rwenzori Mountain ranges form one of Fortporta"s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (FAONB) and it covers about a quarter of the region as it takes part of Kasese, Kabarole and Bundibugyo districts.

Fortportal is still an agricultural county but in recent years it has seen a large growth in the tourism and leisure sector and the natural beauty of the county draws people to all areas. There are 4 national parks surrounding fortportal town these include Kibale forest national park , Queen Elizabeth national park ,Semliki national park and Rwenzori mountain national park Farmers are being encouraged to diversify into the tourism industry and this has created a large number of bed and breakfast and self catering properties. The area is ideal for walking and cycling and is popular with hikers.
Ntoroko and other Kamwenge have fine hotels and there are many tourist destinations in these regions Accommodation is not a problem and there are a large number of Bed and Breakfast and self catering properties right across the area, and booking in advance if you intend to arrive in one of the more popular destinations such as Fortpotal town or Kasese town, what ever busy the season may be. These properties range in size from a single room in a house to a 10 to 12 bed establishment in a town centre.
Prices also reflect the popularity of the location and can be quite cheap. A bed and breakfast is just that; a place to sleep where a home cooked breakfast is provided as part of the tariff. In Uganda, bed and breakfast places can be found in every location and they are a lot more personal and friendly than other forms of accommodation.
